INTERCAMPUS SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The Pastoral Care Department organised an Inter-Campus Soccer Tournament for the Grades 5 and 6 students on Saturday, March 3rd. The tournament was designed to bring all grades 5 and 6 students together from all Sirius College campuses and to have a friendly soccer match, and to have them bond with each other on such an occasion.

We took 11 students from Grade 5 and 6 to represent our campus (Shepparton). After a two-hour drive, we reached the Meadows Fair campus where the tournament took place. Our team was in group 2 and we played against Eastmeadows Team A, Keysborough Team A and B for the group matches. Our goalkeeper, Abdul Faizi (Grade 6) starred in the first match with his saves as we played against Eastmeadows Team A. Raihaan Syed (Grade 6) scored the only goal in the game and we won 1 – 0. We played even better in the second match and won 2-0 against the Keysborough Team B where Raihaan Syed scored again. Mohammed Hameed (Grade 6) and Raihaan Syed starred during the tournament. The third group match before the lunch break was against the Keysborough Team A. Although winning the first two matches guaranteed us a spot in the semi-final, our boys still played their best and beat Keysborough Team A 2 – 1 and Raihaan Syed and Ibrahim Mansuri (Grade 5) scored a goal each. We came first in our group which was an excellent result.

After the lunch break, we played the semi-final match against the IDC Sunshine campus. We had many opportunities to score but fail to produce a goal in the first half. We conceded two unfortunate goals and the match ended with 0 -2. The final match was played between IDC Sunshine and Keysborough Team A where IDC Sunshine became the champions of the tournament.

I would like to thank all our parents for their support. Thanks also to our team members for their excellent effort and sportsmanship. I believe with more training we can achieve an even better result.
